3. Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu is an Inka ruin located in the valley of Urubamba, Peru. Machu
Picchu is a city built in 1450 by the kingdom of Inka, but was
abandoned a hundred years later when the Inca Kingdom was conquered by
the Spaniards. The term Machu Picchu if translated directly into Indonesian can be interpreted as "Old Mountain". The site was later rediscovered by archaeologist Hiram Bingham from
Yale University in 1911. Machu Pichu was one of the UNESCO world
heritage sites in 1983.
